Living in Upper Mission
Upper Mission is the hillside above Lower Mission: a stack of newer subdivisions climbing south and west, most of them built from the nineties onward. You come here for two things: a newer house than you'd get on the flats for the same money, and a view of the lake from your kitchen.
It's a genuinely different living experience from the neighbourhood directly below it. Streets are curved and quiet, lots are engineered rather than inherited, and almost everything is a drive. Kettle Valley sits within it as its own walkable pocket with a small commercial centre, and the newer plaza at the top of the hill has taken some of the sting out of the grocery run that used to mean going all the way down.
Who it suits
Anyone who'd rather have a newer, larger home and a view than a short walk to the beach. Also worth a look if you want a quiet street with almost no through traffic.

Everything is a drive, and the drive is downhill on the way out and uphill on the way home. Downtown, the hospital and the beaches are all manageable; UBCO and the airport are a long haul from up here.

Amenities
What's actually here.
The hilltop commercial plaza covers groceries and everyday errands. Kettle Valley has its own small village centre. There's excellent trail access straight off the back of the neighbourhood, and the lake is a few minutes down the hill rather than a walk away.
Schools, parks and services in the catchment are listed on the school district's site, which is worth checking directly, since catchments change.
Teagan's take
This is where I grew up, and I loved it. The proximity to Okanagan Mountain Park, with hiking, biking, climbing and awesome views, is great. Since it's set on a hill you're also likely to find a house with a gorgeous lake view here, though not without paying a six figure premium for it.
Be mindful that if you have a morning commute into town, the hill down towards AME gets backed up as parents bring their kids to school down the one road. If you have a family, love the outdoors, and want a lake view, this could be the spot for you.
