Living in Lakeview Heights

Lakeview Heights sits on the slope directly across the water from Kelowna, which gives it the view the city itself mostly doesn't have. It's an established West Kelowna neighbourhood with mature streets, some of the valley's best-known wineries inside its boundaries, and a straight shot at the bridge.

The housing is largely detached and largely from the seventies onward, with newer builds and rebuilds scattered through it and a real range in lot size. Many properties have a view; the ones that have the view and the flat usable yard command a premium, because that combination is genuinely scarce here.

Who it suits

Anyone who wants a lake view and an established street, and works or spends most of their time on the west side or downtown Kelowna.

Getting around

Over the bridge to downtown Kelowna in good conditions, which is most of the time. The bridge is the single variable in every commute from here — when it's affected, there is no alternate route.

Amenities

What's actually here.

Mission Hill, Quails' Gate and the rest of the Westside Wine Trail. Kalamoir Regional Park for trails and lake access. Everyday shopping is down in Westbank a few minutes away.

Schools, parks and services in the catchment are listed on the school district's site — worth checking directly, since catchments change.

Teagan's take

The wineries aren't a lifestyle accessory here, they're the neighbours. Which is lovely in May and genuinely busy in August — if you're on one of the roads that feeds a tasting room, you'll notice the difference between seasons.

Be clear-eyed about the bridge. Day to day it's a non-event and the commute is fine. But it is the only crossing, and when something happens on it, your twenty minutes becomes ninety with no way around. That risk is priced into the west side, and it's the main reason the same house costs less here than on the Kelowna side.

No pressure, no pitch. Just a conversation.

Twenty minutes, on your schedule. Even if you're twelve months out.
